Set on a full flat acre, this remarkable Brentwood Modern Belgian Farmhouse was built from amended plans by Howard Backen of Backen Giliam & Kroger.
The architectural design, coupled with décor by an internationally noted interior designer, is the perfect setting for a countryside retreat in the heart of the city. All buildings of the compound were constructed of authentic weathered materials specifically sourced for this project. The four-bedroom, five-bath residence comprises a sweeping 7,800 square feet of expansive indoor and outdoor spaces. Dramatic floor-to-ceiling steel and glass doors open to a broad outdoor entertaining loggia with dining hall and outdoor kitchen with gas-fired wood-burning pizza oven. The main residence and stables surrounds a focal point of the compound a lush raised vegetable garden. This garden boasts nine oversized Corten Steel vegetable and fruit raised beds comprising everything from pumpkins to pomegranates and a chicken coop to complete the working farm environment. The main kitchen is by UK firm Plain English, the company Prince Charles invited to design the kitchen for The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment’s Natural House project. Other features include a wine room, a secret storeroom and a full attic. The two-stall barn holds a storeroom, loft, laundry room, bathroom, tack room, grooming stall and wash rack with hot and cold water, and is equipped with Nelson waterers and Big Ass Fans.
